Technology Help Available through ABC-USA
ABC has created a site designed to provide American Baptist churches and individuals with information about computers and related issues (PC and Mac). This site contains resources on helpful tips, free and discounted software, virus and security information, computer/hardware recycling, and discounted computer purchases for ABC churches.

Please visit http://pchelp.abc-usa.org/

For your convenience, the information below was taken from the ABC-USA Website

Dell Offers New Computers at a Discount to American Baptists --

 for Office or Home use

Because the American Baptist Mission Center uses many Dell computers, Dell has offered all of ABC (regions, churches, members) the opportunity to take advantage of the same corporate discount that the Mission Center receives. So if you are considering purchasing a Dell computer, please read the following information. Note that the Mission Center is not endorsing one brand over another, but is simply passing along the corporate discount if you do purchase a Dell.

There are two different ways you should look into buying a Dell - check both because the prices will vary.

Go to www.Dell.com and click on Home and Home Office link
Select the Type of computer you are interested in (laptop or desktop)
Select the Model of the computer
You can choose one of the pre-configured models or you can choose to customize all of the specifications of the computer.

The specials they offer change weekly so if you are interested, for example, in a free upgrade of the RAM or Hard Drive and it isn't offered this week, wait until next week and check again. Dell offers even better bargains towards the end of the month or quarter.

  1. The other option you should check is Dell’s Employee Purchase Program – www.Dell.com/epp or call 877-289-9437
You will be prompted to enter our Member ID - PS21048446

This link gives discounts on the computer based on the length of warranty you choose. A one or two year warranty gives you a 5% discount on the system. A three or four year warranty increases the discount to 12%.

Anyone at all who is associated with ABC can use the Employee Purchase Program. You  do not need to be employed by ABC, so any church member is eligible for the discount.

Special Software Pricing Available to 501c3 Organizations
Churches, Regional Offices and other ABC-Affiliated Non-Profit Organizations can purchase software at a significant non-profit discount through Consistent Computer Bargains, Inc. For example, a copy of Microsoft Office Professional, which would normally cost about $500 at a store, can be purchased for only $67 for each license plus an additional $39 for one copy of the CD containing the software.

*       Following is information about the requirements needed and the process to order at this discount.  For more information or to place an order, please contact Patti Lojeski directly:

*       Non Profit Documentation required by CCB for ABC churches:

*       a copy of the state tax exempt form; and  CCB will use the “Find A Church” search feature from the ABC-USA.ORG website to confirm affiliation. Please verify that your church is listed and can be found through this search feature before contacting Patti Lojeski. You can check to see if your church is listed by finding your church at this site:           http://www.abcis.org/public/churchsearch.asp

*       The minimum order is any combination of 5 or more Microsoft licenses. All products count as one license. You can reorder one license at a time after the initial license order. If you want to order just one item (Office Professional, for example) you can simply add 4 Exchange Client Access Licenses (the cheapest item) at a cost of around $5 each to get the minimum of 5 licenses needed for the initial order. The Exchange licenses simply help you get to the required minimum of 5.

The Media Kit CD Rom for each item that you want to actually use will need to be purchased separately. You don't need to buy a CD for the Exchange licenses, for example.

The License is a 2 year agreement, and you can reorder as little as one license at a time within the 2 year period. When you reach the end of the 2 years, your licenses are still legal. However, you  can't just reorder one license; you would need to follow whatever licensing guidelines are in effect at the time you reorder. The Licenses are still legal until you choose to move up to a newer version of the software you have licensed.

What kind of discount is available to churches?

Each software company offers different discounts to Non-Profit organizations. Microsoft offers the largest discount. For example, one retail copy of Microsoft Office 2003 Professional would cost $499 if purchased at a local software retailer. Through CCB a church can purchase one license of Microsoft Office 2003 Professional for $67 (plus a one-time charge of $39 for the Media Kit needed to install the Office suite).

Can I buy software for my home computer through CCB?

Not at a discount. This special pricing is only available to Non-Profit organizations classified with a 501c3 tax-exempt status.
